POSITION SUMMARY
Plan, implement and supervise project safety in accordance with Federal, State, and local Health and Safety regulations, and Environment (HSE) regulations, site safety and corporate policies. This is a job-site critical position ensuring the health and safety of all employees on the job site. The successful candidate must be CHST certified, be responsive to questions / concerns, excellent communication with all levels and strong problem-solving skills.
SALARY RANGE : $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend jobsite Pre-task meetings and meet jobsite supervision independently to identify critical work activities requiring work plans and assist with the development of the work plans prior to commencement of work activities.
- Oversee critical work plan activities to ensure compliance with approved work plans.
- Contact General Contractors / owners' site safety personnel to ensure operations meet their satisfaction; walk the site with safety personnel if available and follow up on items that need closure.
- Perform jobsite inspections, review safety-related paperwork, and ensure the scope of the pre-task plan matches the scope of the daily work and current operations to verify jobsite compliance.
- Ensure field operations comply with current OSHA regulations, Murray Company Policies, and Owners or General Contractor’s rules as specified by contract.
- Assist with training as needed for projects, ensuring all employees on site have the required training; discuss upcoming training needs with the project team and assist in scheduling classes.
- Train crew members in personal fall arrest / restraint systems, scissors lift operations, powered industrial truck operation, personal protective equipment, power tool safety, confined space entry, and any other safety training required by corporate policy.
- Conduct daily jobsite safety and pre-task audits required by contract.
- Assist in updating the certification Training Database to ensure all training classes are updated and records are available for employees onsite.
- Inspect all rigging on the jobsite to ensure safety for use.
- Assist with accident and incident investigations for jobsites and develop safety alerts as necessary.
- Ensure root cause analysis is performed and develop mitigation methods when necessary; provide appropriate documentation to the Corporate Safety Department and GC once approved.
- Accompany any injured worker throughout medical treatment to ensure proper care and management of the injury / care.
- Ensure appropriate management of work-related injuries and proper care for injured employees.
- Develop and implement procedures to eliminate hazards discovered through lessons learned and investigations from prior incidents.
- Recommend corrective actions and / or disciplinary procedures for violations of HSE rules and procedures.
- Review and record all required job site safety documentation created by foreman to ensure compliance with corporate policy; coach and correct when needed.
- Assist in new hire orientation as needed.
- Conduct work area surveillance inspections and air sampling tests for welding operations as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Project Managers to drive positive change.
- Assist Safety Department and project team as needed for specific safety-related items.
