The world’s leading provider of waste management services and specialty-containment solutions is looking for a Controller to join their team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting and finance management. Our client is seeking someone with leadership experience who can fine tune processes and procedures within the accounting department.

Type of Position: Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage accounting department operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
- Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting through the coordination of regulatory reporting.
- Develop and implement financial controls and accounting policies to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and ensure proper financial management.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and monitor financial performance by analyzing results, addressing variances, and implementing corrective actions.
- Oversee cash flow management, maintain banking relationships, and ensure sufficient liquidity to meet organizational needs.
- Direct audits and collaborate with external auditors to ensure proper financial monitoring and reporting standards are maintained.
- Lead, train, and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic initiatives, cost management, and performance evaluations to drive business success.
- Stay informed about evolving accounting and financial regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance and continuous process improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
- 5 years of proven experience in Controller role
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software, financial systems, and Microsoft Excel
- Exceptional analytical skills, with a focus on financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting
- Proven leadership and team management abilities, fostering collaboration and high performance
- Strong attention to detail, coupled with excellent organizational and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization
