What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wholesale Coordinator position at Murray's Cheese?
Position Summary
Murray's Wholesale department works directly with chefs, selling fine cheeses into the best restaurants in NYC and beyond. The Wholesale Coordinator is the liaison between chefs, Murray's sales and production teams as well as a key link between internal departments. In addition to helping streamline the flow of information around daily operations, the coordinator will spend a good deal of their day chatting and corresponding with some of NYC's top chefs about - you guessed it - cheese and charcuterie. As daily support to the WS Operations Specialist and WS team, this communication-heavy, customer-focused position requires excellent communication, organizational and operational skills as well as the ability to perform accurately and gracefully in a fast-paced environment. A strong sense of urgency is a must. Prior cheese knowledge is not necessary, though a strong desire to learn about cheese and a demonstrated passion for the NYC restaurant scene are mandatory.

What You Do
Receive and input client orders from email and voicemail, and organize in alignment with the production schedule and oversee the flow of the sales day
Answer phone calls from chefs to take orders and provide sales support for the department, consult with chefs to recommend cheeses for menus based on new items, flavors, pairings, etc.
Manage stock issues by identifying out of stocks, communicating out of stock status to sales team and customers, develop substitution plan with customer, and communicate resolutions to production crew and WS team
Develop a strong working knowledge of our cheese, charcuterie and grocery selection available through wholesale
Develop a strong vocabulary to vividly describe cheese flavors and textures to clients
Build relationships with chefs over the phone / email, understand their menus, learn their palates and gain intuitive knowledge of restaurant rhythms
Confer with wholesale customers by telephone or by email to provide information about products or services, obtain details of questions, complaints, etc...
Manage stock issues by identifying out of stocks, communicating out of stock status to sales team and customers, develop substitution plan with customer, and communicate resolutions to production crew and WS team
Work with buying department to be aware of stock levels, identify potential issues and brainstorm solutions in the best interest of our clients
Observe, identify and communicate sales trends with internal teams
Liaison with warehouse departments to locate product and troubleshoot when necessary
Update and maintain price lists and stock communications
Provide clients timely, thoughtful and positive customer service at all times
Assist with new account inquiries and setup.
What We Need From You
1 years of experience in retail or Wholesale
Customer service experience preferred
Fluent in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Flexible and reliable
A sincere passion for all things cheesy
Impeccable attention to detail, organization, and self-motivation
