JOB TITLE: Marketing Coordinator

REPORTS TO: President/CEO

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:

This position assists in implementing Chamber organizational and program marketing, brand, branding, advertising and promotion design and production, press and media relations, corporate communications including internal communications, and publications of The Chamber and The Chamber’s presence on the Internet. Works hands-on to collaborate and produce much of the materials created at the direction of the Communications and Program Development Director and maintains brand consistency in copy through tone, voice, and terminology throughout.

Major Tasks: Marketing, Social Media Content Creation, Copyediting, Writing, Graphic Design.

MARKETING – GENERAL:

Marketing and Design –

  • Monitor marketing schedule, created by the Communications and Program Development Director, and communicate with staff to collect content submissions and feedback.
  • Create marketing materials, promotional collateral and social media graphics and video while maintaining the Chamber brand for marketing campaigns, special events, etc. in collaboration with the Communications and Program Development Director.

Communications–

  • Assists in writing content for the Chamber’s press releases, print publications, and e-newsletters.
  • Assist in developing reports and processing date from surveys as it pertains to the Chamber, Economic Development, Etc.
  • Serve as secondary copyeditor for all internal and external communications produced by the Chamber, in addition to the Communications and Program Development Director.

Social Media –

  • Create, write, and manage original content/posts/campaigns/events/ member posts on the Chamber’s social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Engage members and the community through social media platforms and social media groups.
  • Monitor social media platforms for membership inquiries and questions, directing them to the appropriate staff member.
  • Create actionable plans to both grow and maintain followers through the Chamber’s social media platforms.

Email Marketing –

  • Update contacts in ConstantContact on a weekly basis to ensure proper delivery to all active Chamber Members and removing bounced/suspended contacts to maintain a healthy contact list.
  • Create and schedule reoccurring monthly emails such as but not limited to reminders for events and member renewals.
  • Assists in maintaining and developing internal tools to maximize email marketing campaigns, including market segmentation, campaign results, etc.

Website –

  • Assists in posting member press releases, hot deals, job postings or community event submissions through ChamberMaster.

GENERAL:

Attends Chamber events to support staff and network with members.

  • Provide coverage for front desk as needed.
  • Maintains professional business relationships to include, but not limited to: Chamber members, volunteers, the Ambassador group, Boards of Directors and clients; members of the business community; persons and organizations affiliated with the Chamber.
  • Analyzes event schedule and develops short- and long-term strategy for resources and communication.
  • Adhere to all established office policies and procedures.
  • Complete assigned activities, projects or promotions within the prescribed time limits allowed.
  • Able to assess event objectives and determine most cost-effective means to deliver results.
  • Captures necessary media including photographs and video as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Flexible hours required. Attendance at after-hours Chamber functions is required. Routine local travel required.

SKILLS:

  • Exceptional writing, presentation and verbal communication skills. Communicates effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Knowledge of the theory and techniques of promotional, editorial, and business formats, conventions, and wording. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar and demonstrates the ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand appropriate to the medium used.
  • Excellent attention to detail with high accuracy and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates originality. The ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem, developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including artistic contributions.
  • Interviewing and reporting skills. Demonstrates ability to attain information -- observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. Ability to work collaboratively with staff to create a results driven, team oriented marketing product.
  • Demonstrates ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events.)
  • Knowledge of research and analytical practices as they relate to marketing.
  • Sales. Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Time Management. High level of organizing, planning, and prioritizing work. Able to develop specific long term and short-term task goals. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in order to meet deadlines. Manages one's own time and the time of others. Ability to process “big picture” into manageable steps
  • Making decisions when appropriate and solving problems. Able to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Solid strategic thinking and processing skills. Understands demographics, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and communications plan development, execution and evaluation methods. Ability to conceptualize and develop short-term and long-term strategies and written plans.
  • Service Orientation. Actively looking for ways to help people. Responds in a timely manner to customers and handles all interactions with professionalism. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production. Familiar with and can produce hands-on and/or supervise production of print advertising, print collateral, publications, radio public service announcements, video presentations, TV advertisements, PowerPoint presentations, press releases, media packets, membership collateral, editorials, advertorials, articles, outdoor advertising, trade show exhibits, email and internet marketing, social media and specialty advertising. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective production and distribution of marketing messages.
  • Budgeting and fiscal skills. Ensures budgetary guidelines are followed and expenses controlled. Demonstrates ability to determine how money will be spent to get the work done, and accounting for these expenditures. Experience, familiarity, and knowledge of current, common costing of marketing materials and production.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. As well as intermediate graphic design and video production experience with programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Rush and Premier. Knowledge of google analytics a plus.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
