What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Parent (Three shifts per day) position at Murrow Indian Children's Home?
Murrow Indian Children's Home is seeking MATURE, CARING, and DEPENDABLE employees for the position of houseparent. We are a faith based, non profit organization whose mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment, spiritual foundation, and cultural experience to Native American children in crisis. We have 24/7 coverage so we have 3 shifts daily including weekends.
The Houseparent will be responsible for the performance of their duties and will be evaluated by the implementation, consistency, quality, and performance of their assigned duties toward raising capable, caring, Christian adults. The houseparent will be able to meet all of the qualifications and expectations as outlined in the Murrow Home Policy and Procedures. This includes adherence to all health department and licensing requirements concerning cleanliness, food preparation and storage.
Follow campus & licensing policy and procedures in regard to the accomplishment, documentation, and reporting of fire and tornado drills. Responsible for the planning, serving, storage, and consistency of meals served in the cottage. Responsible for supervision and training the children in the cottage chores, laundry, house cleaning, food preparation, and financial responsibilities in an age appropriate manner. In addition, begin preparation for the children's transition to becoming capable, caring, Christian adults. Responsible for the overall cleanliness and appearance of the cottage.
Houseparent staff will help with and attend Murrow fundraisers as requested by executive director and preform any other duty assigned by the Houseparent Supervisor, Program Director and/or Executive Director. Plan to spend one major holidays with the children in your care (is on rotation with other staff).
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license and clean driving record
- Must be 24 years of age or older
- MUST pass a finger printed background check and drug screen
- This position provides care up to 10 children between the ages of 5-18.
- MUST BE ABLE TO WORK OVERNIGHTS AND/OR WEEKENDS HOURS.
