Provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed.

Additional Job Description
Genetic Counselor I or II:
- Bachelors Degree
- Preferred Work Experience: 0-5 years.
- State licensure and/or professional certification requirement/s dependent on position.
- Master’s degree from an ACGC-accredited genetic counseling program.
- ABGC board certified
- ≥5 years of experience in genetic counseling with ≥1 year at MUSC
