Job Summary:
The Stepdown Registered Nurse provides high-quality, compassionate care to patients who are stable but require close monitoring and frequent assessments. These patients are transitioning from intensive care or need more intensive nursing care than provided on general medical-surgical units. The RN in this unit plays a vital role in patient recovery, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, assess, and document patient vital signs and conditions frequently.
- Administer medications, treatments, and perform interventions as prescribed.
- Manage patients with complex health conditions including cardiac, respiratory, and post-operative care.
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and families on care plans, medications, and post-discharge needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Adhere to hospital policies, infection control protocols, and patient safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
- Licensure: Current and valid RN license in the state of [Insert State].
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 year of experience in acute care nursing (Stepdown, ICU, or Med-Surg experience preferred).
