Job Description
To provide assistance in pediatric patient care services under the direction of the Child Life Manager. Provides skilled supervision of a multi-age playroom and bedside play, as needed. Assists with facilitating playroom operations, per Child Life Department policy and procedure. Plan and implement activities in play space to encourage growth and development in pediatric patients. Assists with material management, supervision of volunteers and communicates with Child Life staff regarding patient needs and interactions.
Additional Job Description
College graduate: Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Child Life, Special Education, or related field. Must be knowledgeable in child development of infants, children and adolescents; and skilled in methods and materials needed for use in facilitating children’s play, coping, and preparation. Competence and experience in working with families. Demonstrates knowledge and skills required to prove care and/or service appropriate to the age and level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patient’s families. All job duties require knowledge and skills to care for patients between the ages of 0 and 18. Must exhibit initiative and creativity and the ability to be self – directed, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Communication skills and ability to follow through on assignments are important, working within hospital policies and departmental procedures and philosophy.
