Position Purpose

Primarily responsible for major and principal gift fundraising (gifts exceeding $25,000), this role focuses on creating, developing, and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program to increase private support for the MUSC Regional Health Network. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Development for the Regional Health Network, the position collaborates closely with clinicians, MUSC Health leadership, administrators, Institutional Advancement colleagues, and other stakeholders across MUSC Health and the MUSC enterprise. The Regional Health Network (RHN) encompasses multiple divisions, clinics, and medical office sites across South Carolina.
Minimum Experience And Training Requirements
A bachelor's degree and five years of development experience.
Preferred Qualifications
A proven track record of major gift fundraising in healthcare is preferred.
A minimum of 2-3 years of development experience is preferred, along with proficiency in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge, NXT, or similar prospect management systems. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is ambitious, goal-oriented, and capable of working within a complex, multi-faceted organization to establish philanthropic and productivity goals, create actionable plans, and achieve objectives. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills are essential. The ability to build excellent relationships with all constituents and to develop and monitor budgets, as assigned.
The ideal candidate will preferably reside within one of the Regional Health Network markets to effectively build relationships and support the local community.
Job Duties
30% - Works collaboratively with RHN leadership, the Senior Director of Development of Regional Health Network, the Associate Dean for Medical Development, and other key MUSC Health and Institutional leaders to design and oversee comprehensive fundraising strategies. Ensures effectiveness across all phases of the major gift cycle, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Advises leadership and colleagues on development strategy, assisting in setting priorities to achieve sustained private support for the Regional Health Network.
30% - Manages a portfolio of constituents, which may include corporate or foundation donors, patients, families, community members, and alumni prospects to advance development priorities of the RHN, MUSC Health, and the MUSC enterprise. Develops strategies for each major prospect and conducts regular outreach. Meets established goals (e.g. dollars raised, solicitations, visits, etc.). Enters actions into database and keeps solicitations up to date.
20% - Serves as a key liaison among Institutional and Advancement leaders, including the MUSC Foundation, Advancement Services, Communications, Annual Giving, Principal Giving, and Corporate and Foundation Relations, to ensure seamless coordination of resources and strategies in support of fundraising goals. Supports donor, RHN needs through cross-departmental alignment and operational excellence. As needed, under the supervision of the Senior Director of Development RHN, may assist in managing advisory boards approved by the institution and the Associate Dean for Medical Development, fostering engagement and advancing the Regional Health Network’s objectives.
15% - Proactively identifies, cultivates, and stewards relationships with prospective and existing donors to generate significant private support. Collaborates closely with clinicians, MUSC Health leadership, and Institutional Advancement colleagues to create and execute specific, high-impact gift opportunities. Plays a key role in implementing tailored solicitation strategies for individual donors, ensuring alignment with broader Regional Health Network priorities.
5% - Other duties as assigned.
