Job Description
The registration clerks' purpose is to provide accurate registration for accurate billing. The registration clerk is responsible to gather patient information for inpatients, outpatient and all other posts of registration, involving patient interviews, financial counseling and insurance verification, explanation of hospital policies regarding visitation, payment for charges and services available. Also, handles routine inquiries and problems. Ensures good public relations by careful exercise of this function. The registrar is responsible for meeting and/or exceeding customer service expectations related to the registration process. He/she is fully trained and understanding of MUSC Health Patient Financial Services policies and procedures related to his/her job description and the administration of those according to established guidelines. Routine evaluation of performance results in a 95% to 98% success rate to meet expectations and 100% or greater to exceed.
Education: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Experience: At least 2 years or experience in a hospital or medically related environment. Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards.

Once built, the center will occupy the site of an MUSC-owned property currently known as the Cedar Tower campus on E. Cedar Street in Florence. The project was coordinated through an advisory committee convened by South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) Director Robby Kerr. (Opening October 2025)

- A rapid access center to provide walk-in triage and assessment and offer transition to care.
- Telepsychiatry services to strengthen access to psychiatric services throughout the region.
- Sixteen adult and four adolescent beds for crisis services to rapidly stabilize patients.
- Outpatient adult and pediatric behavioral health clinics.
- A 63-bed inpatient psychiatric unit to treat patients needing more acute care, including the transfer of the 23 psychiatric hospital beds at the McLeod Behavioral Health Center in Darlington to the new facility.
