Job Description Summary
The Certified Instrument Specialist Technician reports to the Manager, Sterile Processing. Under general supervision of the department manager, shift supervisor or designee, the Certified Instrument Specialist Technician performs instrument production, case assembly, sterile processing, decontamination of surgical instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, state, local and federal requirements. This position participates in quality improvement initiatives and functions as a preceptor to new hires.

The Sterile Processing Technician reports to the Manager, Sterile Processing. Additional Job Description
Graduate of high school or GED equivalency examination. Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of processes. Applicant must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Basic computer skills required. Employee must successfully obtain certification in sterile processing from HSPA [Healthcare Sterile Processing Association]. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure health care environment required. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Detail oriented required. Travel may be required. Holiday work and emergency management/disaster team work required.
