Job Description Summary
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is part of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services throughout the rural health network in South Carolina.
The Certified Medical Support Specialist plays a vital role in delivering patient-centered care by performing various multi-skilled activities that support patient treatment and enhance health outcomes. Under the direct supervision of a physician, this role assists in the examination and treatment of patients.
Position Overview
The Certified Medical Support Specialist reports directly to the Outpatient Clinic Manager and is responsible for :
- Interviewing patients and accurately measuring vital signs (including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height).
- Recording and inputting patient information into medical records.
- Preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations.
This position requires basic computer skills along with the capability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. It’s essential to demonstrate the ability to understand and implement detailed instructions for therapeutic procedures and to make accurate physical observations of patients.
