Job Description

The Risk-Safety-PFL Director reports to the Chief Quality Officer, MUSC Health-Charleston. Under limited supervision, the Director directs and coordinates Risk-Safety-PFL activities for the clinical enterprise of MUSC Health-Charleston (including all team members of the Medical Centers and the Medical Staff). These activities include risk-safety identification, analysis / trending, loss prevention / risk reduction, culture of safety (Just Culture, Learning Culture, Reporting Culture), educational programs, and grievance resolution. This role provides basic and complex safety and risk management assessment of processes, procedures, and programs, including in-service education, consultation, liaison activities, and on-call emergency assistance to providers.

Education :

A master’s degree in nursing (or related health care field) and five years’ work experience in risk-safety, with management experience.  Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of risk-safety management and grievance resolution.  Working knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing patient care and treatment, and related services and activities.  Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clinical professionals, public and private entities, fellow team members, and the general public, including ability to supervise subordinate personnel.  Demonstrates knowledge and skills required to provide care and / or service appropriate to the age and level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients’ families.
