Job Description
Provides patient-centered care, acting as a partner and advisor, assisting patients and families to manage their healthcare. Respects their culture, values, individual needs, health goals, and treatment preferences.
Applies critical reasoning and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially for complex or life-threatening conditions.
Uses critical thinking in clinical problem-solving, considering scope of practice, knowledge, competency, and experience.
Assists medical staff with preparation, examination, and procedures, including interviewing patients, documenting records, and vital signs.
Performs telephone and in-person screenings, prioritizes and documents patient phone calls, and reviews medication changes with providers.
Cleans and stocks examination rooms and supplies areas, documents patient care in the medical record according to policy.
Education and Qualifications
- Graduate of a School of Practical Nursing.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse license and proficiency in nursing care and oral communication.
- Additional education qualifications, such as medications and IV therapy, as required by state law.
Experience
- Previous experience in hospitals, nursing homes, or medically related environments preferred.
Licenses/Certificates
- Current License for practical nurse issued by the LLR Board of Nursing for South Carolina or Compact Licensure Agreement.
- Current BLS certification, renewed biannually.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs; work indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes; and use fine motor skills and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to maintain good vision, hearing, and peripheral vision; deal with stressful situations and work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
