The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and NCI-designated Hollings
Cancer Center (HCC) seeks a Communications Manager to create and distribute high quality content for a variety of audiences and channels. Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager at Hollings, this role supports the marketing and communications team by creating content that supports organizational goals within a matrixed organization that is part of a University and a health system. This position works a hybrid schedule (after probation) of 3 days in office and 2 days remote

Job Description

35% Medical/Science Content Creation• Demonstrate strong editing and writing skills in the production of science and medical stories, conveying complex content in an engaging manner for a variety of audiences • Ability to interview physicians, scientists and patients to be an engaging storyteller, capturing the highlights of Hollings’ accomplishments in research, education, community outreach, and clinical offerings • Create content for a variety of channels, including posts and videos for social media platforms, newsletters and more to
convey the breadth and depth of research and clinical care that occurs at Hollings.

35%Website Content Creation • Write and edit engaging content that integrates SEO and best practices for Hollings website • Integrate Google Analytic and Conductor SEO platform recommendations in the development of engaging web content that drives traffic to the website • Upload news content and make weekly web updates to accomplish strategic objectives.

20% Media Relations • Assist in creation and dissemination of news to local and national outlets • Schedule and escort media for on-site or online interviews • Pitch stories to appropriate reporters • Monitor and report on media coverage.

10% Administrative Duties • Assists Hollings Communication’s Director and other leaders with execution of communication strategies • Provide general administrative support of team • Attends and supports special events

MUSC Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and three years professional experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material.
