Summary
Director of Counseling and Psychological Services & Co-Director of Student Health & Wellbeing
The Director of the Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) provides leadership for the operations of the CAPS and co-leads the Student Health & Wellbeing Care clinic as part of the Division of Education Innovation and Student Life (EISL). Reporting to the Associate Provost for EISL, the Director of the CAPS serves a critical and important role in providing progressive, positive, and effective leadership in the institution’s commitment to the promotion of behavioral health and well-being of MUSC students. The clinic provides in-person and virtual behavioral health care services and health promotion programs to eligible students at MUSC, and provides consultation to college leadership, faculty, and staff.
Aligned with the MUSC strategic plan, EISL provides services to students and campus stakeholders to support a successful academic experience and enhance the development of personal and social responsibility while fostering a safe, healthy, inclusive, and supportive community at MUSC.

Job Description
Clinical Services to Students & Consultation : In person and telehealth visits
15% Administration : Leadership / Mentoring / Supervision
5% Service : Institutional / Community
5% Scholarship : Presentations / Publications / Professional Development
5% Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :
Education :
The position requires a Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology or a Psy.D. from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and completion of an APA-accredited clinical internship.
License / Certification :
The individual must be licensed to practice independently in South Carolina and authorized or eligible to provide interjurisdictional services under the authority of the Psychology Interjurisdictional compact (PSYPACT).
Experience :
A minimum of five years of post-licensure clinical experience with demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in evidence-based mental health assessment and treatment for adults is required. The position also requires experience in administrative leadership, clinical supervision, and fiscal management. Strong consultation and interpersonal skills are required.
