Job Description
Responsibilities:
(30%) Lead group exercise classes according to the assigned schedule.
(30%) Teach and/or develop effective, safe and engaging class formats and exercise to a variety of populations. Modify exercises to accommodate diverse fitness abilities and medical considerations. Ensure proper use of equipment and facility guidelines during classes.
(20%) Maintain a positive and motivating environment. Adhere to all facility policies, safety protocols, and professional standards.
(10%) Meet with supervisor and attend quarterly staff meetings. Collaborate with other Wellness Center staff to support participant goals.
(10%) Occasionally lead and teach effective group exercise classes off-site in the surrounding Charleston area.
Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED.
Current nationally recognized Yoga, Les Mills BODYPUMP, Les Mills BODYCOMBAT, Les Mills RPM, Les Mills SPRINT, Pilates, Cycle/Spin, or Aquatics certification.
Current adult CPR/AED certification from a recognized provider (e.g., American Heart Association, Red Cross)
Prior experience teaching group exercise classes in a fitness, clinical, wellness, or corporate setting.
Strong knowledge of exercise science principles, injury prevention, and class programming.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate participants of all fitness levels.
