Charleston, SC | Adult Endocrinology – Diabetes Physician-ScientistJoin a team that’s Changing What’s Possible – The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a full-time endocrine specialist in diabetes to participate in research, clinical care and teaching in charming Charleston, SC. Specifically, we are searching for a physician-scientist committed to performing research in diabetes. Areas of research interest within this discipline include Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiometabolic disease, diabetes-cancer link such as with pancreatic cancer, diabetes in pregnancy, immunology, kidney disease and care models, but other areas will be considered. The chosen candidate will also play a key role in educating future leaders in Endocrinologist, as well as broadening access to diabetes diagnosis and treatment for patients in Charleston and the surrounding areas.

Job Description

An MD, DO or MD/PhD degree with board certification in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and a record of excellence in clinical care
An academic physician-scientist with a record of research accomplishments, grant funding and peer reviewed publications
An interest in teaching and education and involvement in our new Diabetes Fellowship Program
About our research opportunity:
The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at MUSC has a distinguished history of clinical, translational, and basic research as well as a reputation of excellence in clinical care and education. Now under the new leadership of Dr. Marc-Andre Cornier, the Division is looking to expand on its research clinical services and research in diabetes. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain a vigorous, nationally recognized basic, translational, or clinical research effort. We will offer competitive start-up funding, well-designed laboratory space, and access to state-of-art core facilities.
