We have the only pediatric stem cell transplant, CAR-T, gene therapy, and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship programs in South Carolina. The pediatric and adult BMT and Cellular Therapy Programs are FACT accredited as a combined program and achieved overperforming status in the most recent CIBMTR outcomes 2020-2022. The program is an authorized/qualified treatment center for gene therapy. The pediatric cancer program has been consistently ranked in the top 50 programs by US News and World Report, including a ranking of 15th in the country for outcomes in 2020-2021.

MUSC is the premier tertiary referral center and academic teaching hospital in South Carolina. The Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital opened in 2020 and is a 250-bed facility with a full range of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties overlooking the Ashley River.

The Division is an active participant in clinical trials through the Children’s Oncology Group, Beat Childhood Cancer, the Pediatric Transplantation & Cellular Therapy Consortium, and BMT-CTN. We also maintain a dynamic portfolio of industry-related oncology, hematology, and sickle cell clinical trials including gene therapy. The Division collaborates closely with Hollings Cancer Center, MUSC’s NCI designated cancer center, as well as the Darby Clinical Research Institute. The Center for Cellular Therapy is a cGMP facility actively engaged in the production of research cellular therapy products.
