Job Description Summary

One year non-ACGME fellowship position in Musculoskeletal spine fellowship, beginning August 1, 2025. Clinical work and training will be performed in the MUSC Hospital and MUSCP affiliated sites. The fellowship applicant will work closely with Dr. Charles Reitman, Dr. James Lawrence, Dr. Robert Ravinsky, Dr. Kelley Banagan.

Job Description

Guideline and Supervision:


Supervised by the Chair and supported attending physicians


Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: M.D. or D.O. degree. This non-ACGME Fellowship is a one-year only junior faculty (Clinical Instructor) position within the College of Medicine. Applicant must be board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Orthoapedic Surgery and able to obtain a permanent (unrestricted) South Carolina medical license prior to the start of the fellowship.


Job Duties (list job tasks)

Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:

  • Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations

  • Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline

  • Initiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician

  • Documents and bills for direct care provided

  • Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice

  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research

  • Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education

(Infrequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Frequent) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Frequent) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
