Job Description
Job Summary : This faculty position will be within the Sleep, Mood, Anxiety Research & Treatment (SMART) Division in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. The candidate will engage in research / program development, clinical service, and education activities.
Responsibilities :
1) Research / Program Development (75% effort) :
Oversee development of a technology-facilitated mindfulness and acceptance learning curriculum to be provided to adults statewide. Development includes content, videos, and interactive exercises. Oversee program evaluation strategy, implementation, quality control, and data analysis. Program evaluation will inform service delivery adaptation, publications, and presentations. Direct mindfulness programming for individuals with sickle cell disease. Manage research portfolio related to development of just-in-time adaptive interventions and ecological momentary assessment for anxiety disorders, trauma- and stressor related disorders, and comorbidities. Submit and revise grant applications for extramural funding. Note : this faculty member would not be expected to cover 100% of their compensation with their own grants. Most faculty members collaborative with other faculty members on a variety of projects, and this faculty member’s skills and talents would make them a valued contributor to different grants. Develop and continue research collaborations with Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences faculty members including Drs. Rheingold, Uhde, Hahn, Ruggiero (and others).
2) Clinical Service (25% effort) :
Provide evidence-based outpatient mental health services to individuals with anxiety and sleep disorders in SMART. Note : faculty member is currently licensed as a psychologist in the state of South Carolina to provide these services. Collaborate with Dr. Uhde in developing research and clinical activities for individuals with sensory difficulties in SMART. Provide clinical supervision to psychology interns in SMART and MUSC Health and Wellness Institute Mindfulness Center, as needed.
3) Education :
Participate in SMART educational activities, such as seminar and case series for trainees. Serve as a research preceptor for trainees, as appropriate. Offer Stress First Aid trainings in the MUSC Health System, as needed.
Minimum Requirements : Candidate must hold a terminal degree to qualify (i.e. PsyD, PhD, MD, DO or related).
