Summary
The Division of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine is seeking applicants to fill their Senior Scientist position for research studies on Alzheimer’s and Heart Failure. As a Senior Scientist, they will design, execute, evaluate and communicate the results of scientific experiments. The candidate will identify, propose and lead research initiatives, and advise PIs on the design and execution of specific aims. The candidate will consent patients, schedule patient’s appointments, collect patients’ history, perform basic physical, cognitive tests. The scientist will keep the records of the studies and organize the applications and shipment of the biobank samples to approved research groups.

Job Duties :
20% - Animal handling and care for research projects. Must be familiar with the Principles of Labor Animal Care and the and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals published National Institutes of Health.
20% - Handling of human tissue for research projects related to Alzheimer’s and heart and brain studies.
20% - Participate and lead efforts in molecular biology experiments within the lab.
15% - Maintain research database and all records for all applicable studies.
15% - Participate and lead in efforts for new manuscripts and grants writing.
10% - Maintain supply inventory / ordering and lab organization.

Job Description
Minimum Requirements : A Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent with seven years postdoctorate experience.
Additional Preferred Requirements : Evidence of scholarly activity as demonstrated by a significant number and quality of scientific publications, many of which as first or senior author.
