What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Sheriff position at Muscatine County?
The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office will be testing on multiple dates to fill open positions of Deputy Sheriff and maintain a hiring list. The position is full time and includes county health benefits and paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. Beginning salary is $29.91 per hour for an uncertified officer (additional if certified, depending on experience). Job offers will be contingent upon passing a background check, which may include drug testing and polygraph.
*New residency policy*
The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office has revised its residency area to include the bordering counties of Scott, Cedar, Johnson, and Louisa.
Testing will be held on the following dates: Saturday, April 5, 2025; Saturday, July 12, 2025; Saturday, October 11, 2025; Saturday January 10, 2026. Physical testing sign in will begin at 9:45 A.M., with test beginning at 10:00 A.M. (Iowa certified officers are exempt from both physical and written testing. Certified officers may have to acquire their most recent POST exam score). Written test will begin at 12:00 P.M. Late arrivals will not be allowed entry. Location of testing will be announced after application deadline for each testing date.
