Muscatine Schools is hiring a High School Secretary for MHS. Secretaries are assigned to work year-round (12-months/year). This is a full-time position with an approximate schedule of 7:30am - 4:00pm (subject to change based on building needs). This position offers an excellent benefits package. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Passage of standardized examination that demonstrates verbal and math skills with a composite of 12th grade level or better.
OBJECTIVE:
To maximize the administrative operation of the High School through professional clerical support.
MAJOR DUTIES:
These duties may be exchanged for similar duties performed by the Principal’s secretary to maximize best skills of the incumbents.
- Work with the administrative team under the leadership of the principal as leader in the day to day operation of the high school.
- Provide professional secretarial services of a high quality: including word processing and database retrieval for assigned administrators for such things as:
- Confidential memos, evaluations and reports
- Annual reports, student and employee handbooks
- Registrar – Key operator of the SASI student database; a major role is to keep updated academic records on all students currently enrolled at high school:
- Send out official transcripts on graduates, transfers etc.
- Verify student data is being updated at all locations including the high school, board office and the Area Education Agency.
- Maintain and produce as required accurate statistics and reports on enrollments, suspensions, withdrawals, drop-outs, class rosters, "Carl Perkins" Reports, Department of Education Equity Report, grade reports, teacher loads
- Assist faculty with computer grading
- Assist with master class schedules for approval
- Provide service as required for networks
- Answer phone relay messages to staff and students when receptions day is completed or overloaded.
- Prepare faculty supervision schedule for "finals" each semester
- Responsible for scheduling room utilization during the school day
- Other duties of a similar nature to be assigned as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must achieve 12th grade composite or better on standardized test. Must demonstrate computer proficiency and office skills on standardized test. Must attend and demonstrate proficiency in SASI, APECS and other software used by the building or district. Word-processing is deemed essential.
