IT Operations Technician

Job Purpose

Install, administer, support, and maintain Utility computing devices, including but not limited to: computers, laptops, and mobile devices, printers, and projectors in a wired and wireless network environment. Install and support Windows desktop operating systems and standard office applications.

Specific Responsibilities

• Install, configure, track, support, troubleshoot, and maintain computer-based systems, including operating systems, utilities, and end user applications. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Maintain installation documentation for all utility-owned applications.
• Determine need for hardware and software upgrades based on changing technology, utility goals and objectives, and user requirements.
• Evaluate systems and peripherals as they are eligible for replacement.
• Research and recommend new end user technologies to meet specific user needs.
• Update and maintain user backups.
• Configure and troubleshoot client side of VPN.
• Work with departments and appropriate end users to:
• Assist with end user support services as needed, to include training, documentation, troubleshooting, and consultation.
• Work with vendor technical support staff, users, and other IT personnel to provide timely resolution of hardware and software problems while maintaining a log of all required vendor interactions.
• Monitor and update IT ticketing system by analyzing incoming tickets and assigning to appropriate staff.
• Maintain IT Onboarding orientation for new employees.
• Provide desktop hardware and software support as needed.
  

Other Responsibilities

• Maintain all required documentation such as error logs, updates on projects, backup logs, procedures, etc.
• Assist with support and maintenance of network servers, including operating systems, utilities, network services, and network-related portions of client systems. This includes running and maintaining network cabling and troubleshooting wireless services as required.
