Mahaska Communications Group (MCG) is looking for a Telecommunications Lineman to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. As a Telecommunications Lineman, you will have the privilege of visiting our customer sites, performing duties that include safely and efficiently installing, maintaining, and repairing MCG's overhead and underground fiber communication network. You will have the privilege of visiting our customer sites, performing duties that include safely and efficiently operating excavation equipment to perform fiber installations and set and fill structures.

- Responsible for promoting safety consciousness and for adhering to OSHA, Utility, Federal, State, and Local safety requirements during the placement of fiber optic cable.
- Install, maintain, and repair the communication network, including overhead and underground fiber, framing, strand, duct, enclosures, and copper.
- Provide accurate as-built information to be entered into GIS system.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the communication network, including OTDR, splicing, and replacement of fiber and copper cable.
- Perform QC & QA on all work performed.
- Participate in repairs in the event of an emergency.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- High school degree or GED
- Experiene with using hand tools and construction equipment preferred.
- Previous telecommunication or municipal electric utility experience preferred.
- A valid Iowa Driver's License and ability to drive to and from the work site is required.
- Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment related to but not limited to bucket trucks, aerial lifts, skid loaders, trenchers, cable plows, excavators, etc.
- Ability to accurately operate underground locating equipment and bore rig.
- Strong oral, written, and organizational skills.
- Ability to professionally address customers and team member concerns.
- Must be able to follow and understand established standards.
- Self-motivated - must work well unsupervised.
- Ability to work at heights of up to 45'.
- Ability to work a variable schedule, to include on-call rotation, days/nights and weekends as needed, and travel where needed.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and physical.
