The Musco Emerging Technology Team is seeking a Technician to work from our Urbandale, Iowa campus. As a Technician, you will play a key role in the configuration, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cutting-edge technology systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of advanced technology, including vision-based systems and mechanical systems, supporting the implementation of these solutions in sports outdoor venues. What you will do as an Emerging Technologies Technician

  • Install, configure, and maintain vision-based and mechanical systems at sports outdoor facilities and in lab environments.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software systems at client locations, ensuring the systems perform as expected.
  • Work with engineers and technicians to test new technologies, collect feedback from beta sites, and improve the functionality of deployed systems.
  • Utilize various diagnostic tools and test equipment to evaluate and resolve issues in electronics, networking, and software components.
  • Work alongside clients, contractors, and facility managers to ensure the proper integration and operation of advanced technology systems.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support, including training and assisting end-users with system setup and operation.
  • Document all processes related to installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure accuracy and facilitate future work.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry best practices, and trends to ensure the continued success of our systems.

What you need to be successful

  • Relevant technical certifications or degrees in electronics, computer science, or related fields preferred. Previous experience in a similar role, is highly desirable.
  • Fieldwork Experience: Ability to work at heights (up to 120 feet) on poles or structures using aerial lifts or climbing with appropriate fall protection equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License: A valid Iowa driver’s license is required, as driving to and from work sites is necessary.
  • Electronics & Software Expertise: Proven experience with basic electrical systems and a strong understanding of high-tech systems, including vision-based systems and their integration.
  • Networking Knowledge: Familiarity with networking protocols and concepts, including troubleshooting network issues in complex systems like lighting and camera networks.
  • Camera/Vision Systems: Experience with vision-based systems is a plus, especially as it relates to their integration in lighting and advanced technology applications.
  • Test Equipment Proficiency: Skilled in using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and diagnostic tools to perform system checks and resolve technical issues.
  • Mechanical Systems: Experience using basic hand tools (soldering, crimping, drilling, cutting, tapping) and mechanical skills for installing and maintaining systems.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong technical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, contractors, team members, and facility managers.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team, sharing knowledge and building on each other’s strengths to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances or environments.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, particularly when it comes to installation, troubleshooting, and documentation processes.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills for email communication, internet navigation, and receiving work instructions or job reporting.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel may be required, particularly for on-site installations and beta site visits.
