Security Coordinator


Primary Function:
The job of Lead Crossing Guard (General Clerk Support) is done for the purpose/s of coordinating with Public Safety Officers, Crossing Guards and Security Department to ensure that Muscogee County School District and Brookstone schools are facilitated with crossing guards (currently 80 plus crossing guards). This position will also provide clerical support to the Security Coordinator; communicating information to staff and the public; maintaining complete and accurate records; and providing information and/or direction as requested.


REQUIREMENTS:


1. Educational Level:


High School Diploma/GED


2. Certification/License/Testing:


Valid Driver’s License; CPR Certificate/Renewal and First Aid Certificate/Renewal. Additional testing for selected candidates may be required.


3. Experience:


Job related experience is required.

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:


KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety practices and procedures.

SKILLS are required to perform single tasks using existing skills. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices and administering first aid.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job- related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: displaying tact and courtesy; being attentive to detail; and maintaining confidentiality.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


1.


Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.


2.


Answers questions and processes requests from internal and external parties (e.g. staff, students, parents, public agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing general information and/or routing inquiries, and providing customer service.


3.


Attends and participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. as required for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.


4.


Collects crossing guards and sub crossing guards time sheets on a bi-weekly basis for the purpose of providing the time sheets to Payroll - Security Department for input into time card online.


5.


Collects data for the purpose of preparing reports and/or processing forms.


6.


Communicates safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to crossing guards for the purpose of ensuring their understanding of such information and the potential consequences of violation.


7.


Coordinates distribution of uniforms and equipment to crossing guards for the purpose of ensuring clothing and safety guidelines are met.


8.


Coordinates with Public Safety Officer for the purpose of receiving guidance when there are public safety issues at the crossing locations.


9.


Ensures crossing guards understanding of student behavior entering and exiting school grounds for the purpose of student compliance with established guidelines, and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.


10.


Maintains electronic documents, files, and records (e.g. letters, forms, reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing up to date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.


11.


Maintains job related equipment (e.g. stop signs, vests, street signs, etc.). Maintains inventory of supplies and materials (e.g. forms, office supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring items’ availability.


12.


Maintains schedule of crossing guards and crossing locations on a daily basis for the purpose of ensuring all crossing locations are covered.


13.


Prepares standardized documents and reports (e.g. form letters, memos, calendars, bulletins, periodic reports, purchase orders, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to other parties and/or agencies.


14.


Processes documents and materials (e.g. mail, specialized reports, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of providing written reference, and/or conveying required information.


15.


Provides training to new crossing guards for the purpose of ensuring that local safety guidelines are followed pertaining to the crossing of students to their schools.


16.


Refers incidents including personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations, etc. to appropriate site personnel for the purpose of ensuring follow-up in accordance with administrative, site security and student safety guidelines.


17.


Schedules replacement sub crossing guards in the absence of crossing guards for the purpose of ensuring that crossing locations are not without a crossing guard.


18.


Supports assigned administrative personnel for the purpose of providing assistance with their administrative functions.


19.


Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
