Primary Function: The job of Software Support Analyst is done for the purpose/s of supporting customer use of enterprise software applications that allow the district to maintain business and student records; facilitation of user and project team communication; providing remote technical assistance to building and district clerical, instructional, administrative and support staff members; and providing suggestions when upgrades or system changes are needed. This job supports the district’s Student Information System which includes Student Services and Teaching & Learning.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Educational Level:
Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.
2. Experience:
Equivalent work experience in computer science or software engineering and two years of increasingly responsible experience in application support with lead experience preferred
3. Physical Activities:
Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
4. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: considerable knowledge of relational and flat file databases; knowledge of the principles and practices of project management; and knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: considerable skills in application software support, modifying, installation, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting; considerable skill in researching and evaluating computer software; effective customer service skills; skill in personal computer operation and ability to learn and operate a variety of software programs; and skill in providing technical advice and instruction to non-technical staff.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

Analyzes and defines user problems in the district and coordinates with users to identify problems for the purpose of creating reliable technology solutions that increase employee productivity.

Assists with the maintenance of software solutions for the purpose of tracking and utilizing student and business data, troubleshooting problems and errors in software and improve data processing efficiency and user satisfaction.
4.
Attends a variety of meetings (e.g. workshops, in-services, conferences, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
5.
Conducts training classes for the purpose of increasing employee competencies with enterprise applications.
6.
Coordinates projects with related programs and projects and coordinates user definition of requirements between user departments for the purpose of ensuring required integration and achievement of District objectives.
7.
Creates queries and reports for the purpose of providing timely and accurate information to customers.
8.
Facilitates project communications with management, developers, and users for the purpose of having a common understanding of project results.
9.
Leads in the development and documentation of software functionality for the purpose of ensuring ease of product use and delivering uniform and consistent packages to users.
10.
Learns a variety of new software and enhancements and maintains current knowledge of trends, developments, and products in the software field for the purpose of providing technical support to users and informing department staff and management of trends to assist in decision-making on hardware and software purchases and software developments.
11.
Manages enterprise software by ensuring patches are applied in a coordinated and timely manner for the purpose of creating reliable technology solutions that increase employee productivity.
12.
Manages software requirement definitions for the purpose of complying with district, state, and federal policy and confirming to established department software standards, incorporating requirements into project solution while promoting realistic user expectations.
13.
Participates in long range planning, technology research and future systems planning analysis for the purpose of maintaining modern, highly effective systems for customer experience and productivity.
14.
Receives level one work orders and resolves or escalates, as needed, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective workflow process.
15.
Serves on a variety of district committees (e.g. representing the Division of Information Services and Department of Enterprise Technologies, etc.) for the purpose of performing related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position as assigned.
16.
Works with vendor partners, as needed, for the purpose of resolving software issues and meeting project requirements.
17.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
