REPORTS TO:
Transportation Supervisor
Primary Function: The job of Transportation Clerk was established for the purpose/s of assisting Transportation Supervisors in day-to-day field operations during the operational period.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Educational Level:
High School Diploma/GED
2. Requirement:
Valid CDL Driver’s License with a Passenger Endorsement; Additional testing for selected candidates may be required.
3. Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years experience in school transportation.
4. Physical Activities:
Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Written and oral communication; adapts to changing work priorities; ability to problem solve
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
2.
Assists in handling incoming calls; monitors bus radio; deals with crisis issues regarding delivery of students, on board problems or accidents before leaving office for the purpose of assisting Transportation Supervisors in day to day field operations to ensure safety during the operational period.
3.
Checks messages, emails, receives incoming calls, return calls and makes calls as needed for the purpose of assisting Transportation Supervisors in day-to-day field operations to ensure safety during the operational period.
4.
Checks office for messages from drivers calling out for the purpose of assisting Transportation Supervisors in day-to-day field operations to ensure safety during the operational period.
5.
Contacts standby drivers, if available; covers routes and makes copies of route sheets for the purpose of assisting Transportation Supervisors in day to day field operations to ensure safety during the operational period.
6.
Informs Transportation Supervisors and/or Director of issues, complaints or other problems as needed for the purpose of assisting Transportation Supervisors in day-to-day field operations to ensure safety during the operational period.
7.
Keeps radio contact with dispatcher, office staff and other supervisors for the purpose of assisting Transportation Supervisors in day-to-day field operations to ensure safety during the operational period.
8.
Monitors bus radio (e.g. contact with driver, dispatcher and bus shop regarding delays, breakdowns, problems at stops or with students or route issues) for the purpose of assisting Transportation Supervisors in day-to-day field operations to ensure safety during the operational period.
9.
Serves occasionally as afternoon sub-driver, on emergency basis, when needed, for the purpose of ensuring emergency coverage of routes.
10.
Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
