What are the responsibilities and job description for the GaTAPP (Georgia Teacher Academy) 2025-2026 Cohort 1 position at Muscogee County Schools?
The Muscogee County School District is offering an intensive 18 to 36-month (length varies depending on candidate and certification seeking) Georgia Teacher Preparation and Pedagogy (GaTAPP) program for individuals transitioning to a career in teaching. The job-embedded program is available for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree (excludes designated CTAE fields) or higher from an accredited institution who did not complete a teacher education degree program. MSCD GaTAPP is highly competitive with a limited number of candidates accepted into each cohort. Admission into the program is contingent upon employment with Muscogee County Schools and based on areas of high need. Currently, MCSD GaTAPP is accepting applications for these areas for the 25-26 Cohort:
- Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE)
- Potential CTAE candidates should be approved by Human Resources before applying to TAPP.
- English (6-12) – degree in the content area preferred
- ESOL
- General Elementary Education (P-5)
- One year of experience in P-5 preferred
- Must take GACE content Elementary Education 001 and 002 or combined test 501 before 04/14/2025.
- Pre-K applicants must have completed early education requirements for Pre-K
- Math (6-12) - degree in the content area preferred
- Music (P-12) - degree in the content area preferred
- Science (6-12) - degree in the content area preferred
- Social Studies (6-12) - degree in the content area preferred
- Spanish (6-12)- degree in the content area preferred
- Special Education (Inter-related General Curriculum Consultative)
- Visual Art (K-12) – degree in the content area preferred
Areas are subject to change depending on district needs.
Potential candidates may be selected for an interview once the admission requirements below are completed.
- Bachelor’s Degree - Hold a bachelor’s degree from a GaPSC-accredited college or university (excludes designated CTAE fields)
- Official Transcripts - Submit all official transcripts to the GaPSC if applicable (preferred 2.7 cumulative GPA)

- GACE Content Assessment - Submit the GACE content score report with the application
- The content assessment passed should be related to the college degree awarded (not applicable for designated CTAE fields and Special Education admission to TAPP) and must align with the subject area the applicant desires to teach.
- All content assessments should be taken before April 14, 2025, to receive results by the application deadline. Passing score = minimum of 220 on each required test.
- GA Educator Ethics -Submit a certificate of completion for Georgia Educator Ethics (360) with the application
- Application - Submit a complete application by Sunday, May 11, 2025
