POSITION TITLE: Occupational Therapist (Full-Time and Part-Time positions) FLSA: Exempt
SALARY: Occupational Therapist Salary Schedule WORK DAYS:

Full-Time: 190 days / Part-Time

19 hours max.weekly 

LOCATION: TBD REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Program for Exceptional Students

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assesses students' functional physical development level; plans and implements appropriate treatment to meet individual student objectives; identifying architectural barriers; provides recommendations for accessibility, program development and student placement; and provides direction to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants

 

REQUIREMENTS:  
1. Educational Level:                 Bachelors degree in job-related area
2. Certification/License:             Licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the State of Georgia; Valid GA Driver's License
3. Experience:                            Prefer one year clinical experience in physical/occupational therapy including pediatrics
4. Physical Activities:                   Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:  Written and oral communication, planning, organization

                                             

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Administers occupational therapy procedures and modalities.
  2. Assesses students' fine and gross motor skills and functional abilities (e.g. perceptual-motor, hand functions, motor coordination, sensory development, muscle strength, etc.).
  3. Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g. parents, teachers, physicians, administration, maintenance personnel, team members, other professionals).
  4. Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel and/or outside professionals to develop plans for services, make recommendations and/or coordinate occupational therapy services.
  5. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  6. Develops treatment plans, interventions, and/or educational materials.
  7. Directs the work of assigned COTAs.
  8. Identifies structural issues to remove barriers for students with physical limitations and/or identifying appropriate assistive technology.
  9. Instructs students and staff for the purpose of providing information on medical/behavioral attributes, use of assistive devices and/or implementing plans for remediation of functional limitations.
  10. Interprets medical reports to provide information and/or ensure that treatment/intervention plans are appropriate.
  11. Maintains files and/or records to ensure the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance.
  12. Performs site visits at multiple work sites including home visits to provide direct therapy interventions and assistance as required.
  13. Prepares a wide variety of written materials to document activities, provide written reference, and convey information.
  14. Provides direct occupational therapy service for the purpose of developing students daily living skills in compliance with established goals and objectives.
  15. Researches resources and methods to determine appropriate approach for addressing students' functional goals.
  16. Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing information and/or referral as appropriate.
  17. Transports supplies and equipment to a variety of sites.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
