PRIMARY FUNCTION: Identifies, plans, and provides services to students who meet eligibility requirements for the speech-language program; communicates with professionals and parents regarding integration of speech and language goals into the classroom and home environments; and provides direction to Speech Language Pathologist Aides.

REQUIREMENTS:

 

1. Educational Level:                      

Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders

2. Certification/License:                  

Valid Georgia Teacher certification

3. Experience:                                

None

4. Physical Activities:                      

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:               

Written and oral communication, planning, organization

                                             

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Assesses students' communication skills to identify communication disorders, determine program eligibility and develop recommendations for treatment.
  2. Assures placement of students in the speech-language program and develops and implements speech-language goals/objectives on individualized education plans according to established procedures.
  3. Participates in IEP meetings.
  4. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  5. Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals such as parents, teachers, physicians, administration, and other professionals in order to integrate speech-language goals into the classroom, other educational programs, and the home environment.
  6. Reports and maintains student data to assess progress and continuation or termination of services
  7. Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies such as hearing aids, FM systems, and augmentative communication devices.
  8. Participates in RTI process at local school level as needed.
  9. Reports information required for local, state, and federal programs.
  10. Participates in professional learning opportunities provided.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
