Director, Building Maintenance & Engineering (Regular, Full-Time)
Facility Engineering
Reporting to the Associate VP, Facilities & Sustainability the Director, Building Maintenance & Engineering provides strategic and operational leadership regarding all activities related to building system operations, maintenance, and engineering. The Director, Building Maintenance & Engineering develops and implements the maintenance and operations strategy for the existing LACMA campus and future assets. Assist the Associate VP of Facilities to develop and review the technical specifications and requirements for existing and future buildings. The Director, Building Maintenance & Engineering supervises the day-to-day building maintenance operations and provides guidance to contractors and Engineering staff to achieve the departmental goals and meet or exceed industry standards. Plans and manages the annual budget allocated for Engineering, Building Maintenance, and Energy.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise and operational assistance in the planning, development, pre-construction, construction, and commissioning phases of LACMA construction projects and exhibitions.
Develop, implement, and evaluate the departmental goals, plans and strategies.
Develop, define, and implement strategies for the maintenance and operations of the buildings and systems
Assesses the condition of the facilities, building systems, and campus to ensure LACMA follows established policies, guidelines, applicable laws and regulations.
Plan, assign, and direct work, including corrective and preventive maintenance activities, in accordance with established policies, guidelines, applicable laws and regulations.
Oversee and review work staff and contractor to ensure quality and completeness meets departmental standards, expectations and follows established policies, practices, guidelines and timeframes.
Manages the work order process, including scheduling, communication, report generation and ensures the quality and completeness of each project meets departmental standards and applicable regulation.
Establish department priorities based on building maintenance and safety needs, staff requests for assistance and under the direction of LACMA management.
Develop and apply strategies for efficient and effective use of staff and contractors based on established priorities of the department.
Conduct regular meetings with staff and contractors to review work priorities, performance measures, project status, and identify areas in which efficiencies can be obtained to streamline workload, processes and cost.
Communicate and interpret existing or new work procedures, policies and guidelines.
Manage vendor selection, project scope, contract development, commission of work, implementation, and execution
Enforce established departmental safety guidelines.
Identify and propose renovations and upgrades to facility, campus or building systems.
Oversees quality control and quality assurance measures for all work performed by maintenance and operational Staff and Contractors
Responsible for the budget allocated for Engineering, Building Maintenance, including forecasting for budget submissions and project approvals, allocations for daily operational expenses, monitor expenditures, and generate reports as needed
Monitor, and evaluate work, product, customer service standards, priorities, and performance goals to initiate improvements and enhance the level of service provided by the Facilities Department.
Manages projects as assigned to the Facilities department
Manages the Engineering and Maintenance and Operations teams, including hiring, on-boarding, training, evaluating, and managing disciplinary action as needed
Perform other duties or special projects as assigned
Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Benefits:
The expected annual salary for this Los Angeles, CA based position is $135,000 - $145,000, subject to change, and the position is eligible for LACMA s comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan.

Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Facility Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum of Seven years experience working in a similar capacity
Salary : $135,000 - $145,000
