AV Digitization Internship, Collection Information and Digital Assets (Temporary Part-Time)

The CIDA internship position will provide students the opportunity to learn from and shadow CIDA staff, while exploring projects in areas such as digital asset management, critical cataloging, and database administration. Examples of previous projects include: collection/data processing, data scrubbing, image and video digitization, software testing, and documentation writing and editing. The intern will have the opportunity to collaborate with CIDA and other museum staff during the course of their internship on co-occurring projects and initiatives. Depending on their focus, the intern will also be connected with additional staff as appropriate and will have access to the team’s broader network. They will attend CIDA’s weekly departmental meetings and have regular check-ins with their supervisor with the hope of their active participation and insight in discussions on data and digital strategies.
Anticipated Internship period: 5/1/25 - 7/10/25
Responsibilities
- Video digitization (Betacam, Umatic, MiniDV) using best practices for monitoring and capture
- TBM collection conditioning and cataloging
- Use of AV preservation tools for quality control and file format conversion
Qualifications
- This internship is appropriate for current students and recent graduates (*LACMA’s definition of ‘recently graduated’: within 1 year after graduation) who are eligible to work in the US including visa holders with a work permit.
