Jr. Collections Management Technician (Regular, Full-Time)
Collections Management
Reporting to the Assistant Collections Manager, the Junior Collections Management Technician performs a wide variety of duties related to the care of the collection, both onsite at LACMA as well as at offsite storage. Duties include artwork housing and movement, collections access, and storeroom maintenance. This is an entry-level position within the field of collections management.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with day-to-day operations of collection storage spaces.
- Assists with collections access requests.
- Houses museum objects for storage and transit.
- Prepares, receives and releases art shipments.
- Tracks objects in the objects database and work request system.
- Monitors storerooms for pest activity and environmental stability.
- Assists with storeroom maintenance and upgrades.
- Keeps work and storage areas clean and maintain tools and equipment.
- Performs other duties or special projects, as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Attends departmental, division, museum-wide meetings, and trainings, as directed.

- The expected hourly rate for this Los Angeles, CA based position is $25.00-$26.22, subject to change, and the position is eligible for LACMA’s comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with one or more of the following areas is desired: museum collection management, art preparation and installation, museum registration, conservation, carpentry, photography, studio art, theater, film production, libraries, archives, warehouse management, fine art shipping, art gallery management, private collection management.
- Good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and spatial reasoning.
- Ability to follow instructions, plan ahead, and problem solve.
- Basic knowledge of packing techniques and packing materials.
- High attention to detail.
- Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software is desired. Knowledge of Google drive and museum databases is a plus.
- Ability to:
- Work independently and within a team.
- Communicate and collaborate with colleagues.
- Climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift and/or move up to 30 pounds on your own.
- Ability to work at heights of up to 20 feet.
- Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, scissor lifts, and other lift equipment is desired.
- Use and maintain basic hand tools such as drills and impact drivers is desired.
- Periodic travel within Los Angeles County is required
