Visitor Services Associate (Temporary, Part-Time)

Reporting to the Lead, the Visitor Services Associate is responsible for providing outstanding visitor service while working front-of-house posts at the Ticket Office or in the museum. The Associate processes and sells museum admission, special programming tickets, LACMA membership, and LACMA Fund donations. The Associate position also provides outstanding visitor service while working within select exhibition spaces ensuring that museum policies and procedures are upheld and sharing important information pertaining to specific works of art. The Associate consistently presents a positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic attitude at all times while working with a variety of LACMA constituencies including the general public, members, donors, VIPs, and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a strong guest-first mindset by consistently delivering exceptional service to both internal and external guests.
- Actively promotes, sells, and provides support for the LACMA membership program.
- Maintains a general understanding of LACMA’s policies, membership offerings, exhibitions, and programming schedules.
- Effectively communicates details regarding visitor experiences and specific works of art.
- Provides gallery support to visitors when necessary.
- Shares relevant and accurate information with colleagues, members, and visitors through clear written and verbal communication.
- Ensures consistent and reliable attendance.
- Participates in scheduled training sessions as required.
- Manages the register, processes payments for tickets, memberships, and donations, ensuring accuracy in cash handling.
- Refers guest service concerns, complaints, or unresolved queries to the Visitor Services Leadership team.
- Performs other assigned duties and projects as needed.
Benefits:
- The expected hourly rate for this Los Angeles, CA based position is $20.00, subject to change.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume, customer service-oriented environment.
- Preferred background in Art History.
- Proficient in ticketing software, with experience in Tessitura preferred.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including holidays, nights, and weekends
