Job Description: Program Director
SUMMARY
The Director is responsible for maintaining a developmentally appropriate program of quality preschool and child care in an environment where STEAM learning is integrated. The Director is responsible and accountable for the total program and services of the STEAM Academy.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Guide children to develop their capabilities through a carefully constructed STEAM curriculum that employs a variety of developmentally appropriate educational techniques
- Manage day-to-day activities at the STEAM Academy and within a classroom
- Ensure the STEAM Academy complies with licensing laws and regulations
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve their social interactions
- Protect and enhance the health and safety of the children and staff
- Communicate with parents regularly; track children’s progress and report to parents
- Maintain a clean and tidy physical environment at the STEAM Academy that is consistent with health and safety standards and practices
- Lead and collaborate with preschool team and MAP educators
- Inform and welcome parents as observers and contributors to the program
- Represent and promote the program in the community
- Plan and provide staff orientation and annual in-service training
- Train, supervise, evaluate, and mentor teachers
- Ensure resources for a high quality program
- Facilitate admission and enrollment. Maintain records in compliance with laws and regulations
- Report to the Board of Directors
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated success as a preschool/early childhood education teacher
- Excellent understanding of child development and early childhood education methods
- Familiarity with Kansas laws and regulations for licensing preschools and child care centers
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
- MUST meet KSDHE program director requirements
- Program directors shall be 18 years of age or older and shall meet the training requirements for the license capacity of the facility.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
