The SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity (MOSAC) is seeking talented individuals to join our team and help lead Sacramento's newest and most exciting attraction. Working closely with other members of the organization and reporting to the Director of Development and Marketing, the position will manage all facets of marketing and communications including PR, brand, internal communications, advertising, digital marketing and social media. The ideal candidate will ensure that all internal and external communications and marketing are consistent, engaging, accurate and advance organizational priorities.

Duties/Responsibilities (partial list; full job description available upon request):
· Working closely with the Director of Development and Marketing, to create a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy driving visitor attendance, brand awareness, market penetration, audience engagement, and donor engagement.
· Manage print and digital promotional collateral with department colleagues to encourage increased visitor/member/donor/volunteer engagement.
· Develop and implement campaigns to share MOSAC’s key messages, enhance the brand and engage target audiences with a goal of increasing awareness and visitation.
· Maintain brand consistency across all communication assets and ensure high quality content that meets our communication and audience engagement goals for all platforms and formats, such as website, email campaigns, social media posts, newsletters, press releases, etc.
· Create and oversee all aspects of the social media strategy and execution, including hiring staff or contractors, training and overseeing their content creation, and editing content as needed to ensure consistent engagement.
· Produce and/or coordinate the design and production of digital assets, including video and photographic assets.
· Measure effectiveness by analyzing data related to website traffic, social media metrics, and email campaign analytics to inform future decision making.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to create innovative, engaging content and tell stories of impact
- Exceptional written communication skills to prepare, proofread, and edit a variety of correspondence and reports for correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling with excellent attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, CRM, email marketing (Constant Contact, MailChimp or similar), social media and WordPress or other web content management tools
- Strong attention to detail with excellent project management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Experience hiring, overseeing, and mentoring staff who contribute to the marketing, communications, and social media goals of an organization.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate in a variety of settings with diverse stakeholders, and maintain confidentiality
- Self-directed with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
- Minimum two years of relevant experience
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- May require being mobile or active up to 50% of the time
