POSITION SUMMARY
Museum of the Bible's (MOTB) Gift shop associate will be responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience and support the mission to invite all people to engage with the Transformative Power of the Bible. Museum Store associates are responsible for ringing merchandise, memberships,
and donations accurately through a Point of Sale (POS) system and for the daily reconciliation of a cash drawer. In addition to providing exceptional guest service and operating a POS system, Retail associates are expected to stock, clean, organize, display, be informed about the product and safeguard retail merchandise. Exceptional guest engagement and high attention to detail are required for this position as the associate welcomes all to engage with the Bible

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and offer assistance to each guest you encounter in the Museum Store, learn the wants and needs of the guests to facilitate an exceptional experience.
- Pleasantly engage guests while ringing sales transactions
- Willing to work part time, not to exceed 20 hours per week
- Collect cash and credit card payments for Retail Store merchandise, suggested donations, and memberships.
- Accurately perform opening and closing procedures including cash counting, drawer preparation, daily monetary transactions (cash and credit card payments), accurately close drawer reconciliation.
- Proactively grow the membership base by providing information about the benefits and value of membership and completing membership sales.
- Retail associates are expected to stock, clean, organize, display, and safeguard retail merchandise.
- Demonstrate knowledge of museum shop merchandise, including, but not limited to how it relates to the mission of the Museum.
- Foster a positive staff culture and work environment.
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays
- Champion the Museum of the Bible’s mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible.
- As required, inclusion in official or incidental photographs and videos for MOTB and/or guests.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
Knowledge
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous experience in hospitality, museums and/or in customer service preferred.
- Fluency in a foreign language is a plus

- Work well with diverse populations, naturally enjoy interacting with people of all ages.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and learn new processes and procedures.
- Ability to learn a POS system.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physically able to stand for 8 hours while on the Museum Store floor.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. to assist with shop restocking and stockroom maintenance.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stoop, stand, climb, and occasionally lift a minimum of 50 lbs. as required
- Occasionally required to crouch and reach to move merchandise or equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine.
