Salary: $100,000 to $125,000 Yearly
Under the guidance of the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Membership Director is responsible for developing strategies to attract 100,000 members by 2030, with a stretch goal of 1,000,000, retain existing members, create a customer service flywheel for all members, and enhance the member experience. The Director routinely interacts with cross-functional teams and provides data and member customer perspectives leveraged from the team’s member/customer interactions. He/she will collaborate with colleagues and teams across the Museum to support the developed strategy, advocate for member needs, and partner closely with CDO and other leaders to articulate and deliver on our value proposition. Position may also be required to speak on behalf of the museum to promote memberships to various constituencies.

The Director routinely interacts with cross-functional teams and provides data and member customer perspectives leveraged from the team’s member/customer interactions. He/she will collaborate with colleagues and teams across the Museum to support the developed strategy, advocate for member needs, and partner closely with CDO and other leaders to articulate and deliver on our value proposition. Position may also be required to speak on behalf of the museum to promote memberships to various constituencies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop strategies and programs to grow the Museum of the Bible membership program to 100,000 with a stretch goal of 1 million, [Ga2] members by 2030.
- Develop strategies for member engagement and retention
- Work closely with the Development team to collaborate and upgrade all members via omnichannel nurture plans
- Develop and implement in-museum membership events as part of member stewardship
- Customize member journeys based on variety of data points and in collaboration with digital teams
- Define and communicate our member value proposition for various audiences and member segments,
- Track monthly retention statistics and develop and implement outreach strategies to lapsed members to improve overall retention.
- Create and manage member benefits program that offers real value for our memberships, collaborate with marketing team to promote programs, and track program results and member engagement
- Create and manage annual memberships budget in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer
- Contribute key insights and knowledge to senior management to make data-driven decisions that benefit our members
- Develop and implement, in collaboration with other teams, annual multi-channel global membership campaign (e.g., virtual memberships)
- Work closely with the Revenue team in conducting member and customer satisfaction surveys
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, and media teams to use various communication channels, including social media, to support retention/recruitment efforts and to deliver value to members and customers
- Formulate best practice policies for member services and data management
- Assist in troubleshooting customer service issues to ensure effective and long-term problem resolution
- Other Duties as Assigned
Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Development or relevant discipline
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive responsible experience in Memberships or Marketing role or related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strategic planning and execution, with a strong customer and results orientation
- Working knowledge of CRM & data management systems; Salesforce preferred
- Creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills
- Mission alignment
- Excellent relationship builder
- Able to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Stand for extended periods of time and lift 30 lbs
- Champion the Museum of the Bible’s mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible
- As required, inclusion in official or incidental photographs and videos for MOTB and/or guests.
