Are you passionate about being a fundraising leader for a mission-driven non-profit organization? The Museum of Flight seeks a Director of Leadership Giving committed to identifying, introducing, involving, and securing financial support from its generous community.

Summary

The Director of Leadership Giving supports The Museum of Flight by developing and leading strategies to solicit, cultivate, and steward leadership gifts by individuals, foundations, and corporations. This role creates overall giving strategies that result in significant growth of leadership, major, and planned gifts. The Director collaborates closely with the VP of Development and department leadership to create and execute ongoing comprehensive fundraising strategies that support the institution’s mission, vision, goals, financial sustainability, and multi-year campaigns.

Essential Functions

  • Partner closely with the Museum’s CEO and VP of Development to develop and execute strategies to solicit and cultivate gifts of $1 million or more over five years.
  • Supervisory oversight of the department’s Major Gifts, Planned Giving, and Institutional Giving staff.
  • Work with executive and senior leadership teams to develop ambitious Museum revenue targets and implement plans to meet these goals.
  • Establish, track, and report on annual and campaign fundraising plans.
  • Guide and develop near and long-term goals and strategies for the Museum’s Planned Giving Program.
  • Develop and tailor compelling multi-year campaign requests and proposals for leadership donors.
  • Create stewardship opportunities that align institutional policy and culture with donors’ wishes.
  • Collaborate with Museum colleagues to advance prospects towards solicitation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit administration, or public administration required.
  • Ten (10) years of nonprofit development experience, external donor relationship management, strategy, solicitation, stewardship.
  • Five (5) years of experience building and leading high-performing fundraising teams.
  • Knowledge

  • Deep knowledge of donor engagement and contemporary fundraising practices.
  • Proficient knowledge of data analytics and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and project management skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Work Environment

  • This position works primarily Monday through Friday with flexibility for evening and variable hours.
  • Onsite attendance is essential.
  • Some local and occasional out-of-the-area travel may be expected.
  • Compensation & Benefits

    The salary range for this position is $95,000.00 - $152,000.00 depending on experience. The Museum of Flight offers a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and a 403(b) retirement plan.
