Job Description:
MUSH is seeking an experienced and innovative Director of Social Media to spearhead the company’s digital storytelling and engagement strategy across owned social media platforms, focusing on driving brand growth, community engagement, and business impact. This leader will shape the future of our owned social media channels and inspire a high-performing team to execute with excellence.
Role Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develop and implement evergreen social media content strategies aligned with business objectives and ethos of the brand with the goal of building a strong community
- Establish a clear purpose for each social media channel that aligns to key business objectives while focusing on driving brand awareness with our target audience
- Own and manage the company’s social media content calendar, ensuring alignment with key brand moments, timely execution, and optimal resource allocation
- Partner cross-functionally to integrate social media initiatives into current marketing and business objectives
Content Development
- Lead and collaborate with an internal social media team and external creative partners to develop compelling, entertaining and educational content that resonates with the core MUSH community. Content should sharpen and amplify the MUSH brand promise, grow brand awareness and mental availability, and ultimately drive conversion at retail
- Directly manage and execute all creator content, working closely with external partners to source, brief, and review content for our organic and paid channels
- Partner with Paid Media agency on creator and whitelisted content
- Monitor real-time cultural, consumer, and trend conversations to execute timely and impactful social narratives
Channel Growth & Innovation
- Oversee organic owned media channels, including Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms, developing playbooks for growth and engagement, while maintaining alignment with MUSH’s brand mission and ethos
- Identify and test new content in-platform tactics to expand audience reach and continually optimize the channel mix
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing social media team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture, inclusive of identifying key roles to fill across social team to drive growth
- Champion professional development and ensure the team evolves alongside the dynamic social media landscape
Performance & Insights
- Collaborate with insights to build dashboards, report on key metrics, and provide actionable insights to refine strategies to optimize future performance
- Regularly evaluate content effectiveness and refine the content playbook to maximize impact
- Incorporate consumer insights through social listening to continue informing and evolving strategic direction
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Proven experience leading social media strategy and execution within a CPG or similar industry.
- A leader in disruptive social media content development with an emphasis on Instagram, Tik Tok and new/emerging digital and social channels
- A strategic thinker with a creative mindset, capable of aligning creative efforts with overall business objectives while responding to emerging trends
- Proven track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing social teams
