What are the responsibilities and job description for the Piano Teacher position at Music 1st?
Seeking a piano teacher to teach weekends, maybe some evenings.
We are a community based music school that is a sister school of The Tuned In Academy (which serves over 450 students), combined, we serve over 500 students. We are building a team of great people serious about music and music education, including the fundamentals! Our team serves mostly on the weekends, though we also have some weekday morning and evening opportunities as well, so this is a great opportunity for those with a day job or another part time work.
Are you a great musician, looking for a great opportunity? We're looking for musicians that understand that one of the most important things for them as a musician, for the world, and the future of music, is that you are a part of the mission to pass on their knowledge and to inspire others to do great things with music.
We are looking for musicians that understand that teaching music is (and should be) highly relational, and want to develop those relations. We are looking for a musician that want to grow as a musician; and teaching is a guaranteed path to growth if you care about your students and their needs and their growth! Not to mention, what really could be a better job than being a part of a team of great people doing important work in the community that pays well (including five weeks of paid time off a year), and you get to choose their own schedule?!!
If you don't have teaching experience but you care about music and people, and you know your stuff, we can train you in the art of teaching. You must be a hard worker, desire to teach and grow in your craft as well as in helping others grow, be on the ball and responsive, and understanding of our community and how we operate.
To be qualified you must know all fundamentals (scales, chords, and theory), and read at an extremely high level and be able to sight read well, and be committed to teaching students the same. You need to believe in the importance of these things, and be able to demonstrate proficiency (and hopefully mastery) of them! If you don’t know your stuff, please don’t waste our time. We don't mess around when it comes to music!
Why should you teach for us? Because when you get to know us, you will want to. If you have the chops, musically, if you have the personality, you are energetic, you are enthusiastic, you're passionate about music, you're a good person, you like working with others, you love people, if you have all that, you're going to want to work for us. Why? Because we are one of the most respected places to learn music in the community, with people referring others to us all the time! Because we have a great team, because we have fun working together, because our students are great. Because we pay better than other music studios and our teachers are busier, if they want to be.be.
