What are the responsibilities and job description for the Protestant Youth Ministry Coordinator position at Music Ministry International?
The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
Protestant Youth Ministry Coordinator
The coordinator shall support the overall chapel mission by working cooperatively with leadership, staff members, and volunteers. The coordinator shall:
1.1. Coordinate Protestant youth religious programs for sixth through twelfth (6th-12th) grade youth of the Offutt Chapel Protestant community, to include recruiting, training, scheduling and placing volunteers into service to the Offutt Protestant youth community;
1.1.1. Assists the Superintendent, Religious Affairs or Chaplain in charge of volunteers to implement a program to qualify volunteers, train volunteers, track volunteer hours, and recognize volunteers in accordance with DoDI 1100.21 when volunteer services are regularly occurring or of an ongoing nature.
1.1.2. Assists the Superintendent, Religious Affairs or Chaplain in ensuring volunteers complete a Child Care Criminal History Background Check and comply with line-of-sight supervision requirements in accordance with DoDI 1402.05.
1.2. In coordination with the Wing or Protestant Chaplain and Protestant Religious Education Coordinator, assist in the planning, budgeting, scheduling and execution of a comprehensive program of Protestant youth events and activities;
1.3. Coordinate and/or execute all Offutt Protestant youth religious programs with the guidelines set forth by the Air Force Chaplain Corps, in cooperation and consultation with the Wing Chaplain, chapel staff and with lay volunteers, as applicable;
1.4. Produce a weekly Offutt Protestant youth programs bulletin for distribution to parishioners via paper and electronic means and maintain the Protestant youth programs portions of all Offutt chapel web pages and social media;
1.5. In consultation with the Protestant Chaplain and Protestant Religious Education Coordinator, produce and distribute an annual Protestant youth program planning and event calendar at least 60 days prior to the start of the upcoming Fiscal Year, beginning in first option period;
1.6. Maintain records of enrollment and attendance at all Protestant youth programs and activities;
1.7. Maintain a current roster of Protestant youth program volunteers;
1.8. Maintain a stock of expendable supplies and submit request for replacement supplies as needed for Protestant youth programs;
1.9. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local laws and requirements and applicable Air Force Instructions, local Operating Instructions, policies and directives as they relate to chapel services;
1.10. Meet as needed with the Protestant Religious Education Coordinator, Wing Chaplain and/or chapel staff to discuss pertinent issues related to the performance of duties and attend weekly chapel staff meetings;
1.11. Maintain responsibility for cleanliness and orderliness of all facilities and spaces used by the coordinator in performance of this task;
1.12. Present a neat appearance and traditional business casual dress practices for religious services and activities (for any questions contact Chaplain over respective service); and
1.13. Plan, coordinate and lead youth program activities at Offutt Chapel Protestant Sunday worship services during forty-six (46) of fifty-two (52) Sunday services per period of performance, in coordination with the Protestant Chaplain. Working hours for the 46 weeks of service not to exceed16 hours each. Schedule shall be determined after award of contract.
1.14. In the event of extended absence from duties, the coordinator shall notify the COR and Protestant Chaplain as soon as practicable and shall provide an equivalent substitute to support the requirements of Task 6.
Protestant Youth Ministry Coordinator - QUALIFICATIONS
2.1. Be able to clearly express the concepts of the Christian doctrine;
2.2. Possess a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in religious youth program coordination in a Protestant church or military chapel setting to include:
2.2.1. Recruiting, training and coordination of volunteers; 2.2.2. Establishing appropriate religious youth program curricula, events and activities in coordination with a pastor, minister, denomination and/or other church authorities;
2.2.3. Coordinating and administering multiple small and large programs in a dynamic environment;
2.2.4. Planning, programming, budgeting and executing religious youth programs;
2.3. Be willing to work within an interdenominational and interfaith setting with chaplains and parishioners of diverse religious positions/backgrounds;
2.4. Possess a working knowledge of cross-service military rank structure and military customs, courtesies and protocol;
2.5. Pass a background check in accordance with DODI 1402.5; and
2.6. Satisfactorily complete all training requirements for coordinators performing duties in an Air Force chapel, including computer-based and in-person training.
