What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR position at Muskegon County, MI?
The Employment Coordinator, under general review of a Program Supervisor, conducts job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the individual served, following the principles of supported employment. The Employment Coordinator provides individualized support to assist in maintaining employment, including working with and delegating tasks to lower-level employees; assesses individual's employment functioning on an ongoing basis, discusses individual's preferences for disclosure of disability; communicates regularly with treatment team members, including contract agencies, to coordinate and integrate employment services into treatment, including development of an individualized employment goal with the individual served and other team members and completes all required reports, paperwork, and billing documentation. The Employment Coordinator provides education and support to employers as agreed upon by individuals that may include negotiating job accommodations and follow along contact with the employer; assists individuals in obtaining information about their benefits and how benefits will be affected by employment and performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications
1. Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Special Education, or closely related field and be registered as a Licensed Social Worker with the State of Michigan; OR Possess a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university and obtain a license to practice Social Work in the State of Michigan within eighteen (18) months of employment; AND
2. Have a minimum of one (1) year of previous social service experience with persons with a mental illness or developmental disability.
3. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
4. Possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
5. Must have reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work activity requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
An Employment Coordinator works within the offices and program locations of HealthWest, with considerable travel required throughout the County by use of personal resources. An employee in this class may be required to work hours before and/or after the normal work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

EVALUATION CONTENT
Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications.
