What are the responsibilities and job description for the BLUE LAKE PARK CARETAKER position at Muskegon County?
Caretaker shall be responsible for registering campers, supervising the public use of the park and performing a variety of maintenance, supervisory and public relations activities within the park. The purpose is to provide the public with adequate, functional services and facilities in a safe environment to promote public enjoyment of outdoor leisure activities. Caretaker will reside in the camper provided by the Muskegon County Parks or one provided by the caretaker and maintain the camper in an acceptable and operational condition as per the Caretaker Agreement. The Caretaker will also be present daily during the busy season, May through September, to supervise the park and the public and to perform required functions as caretaker.
1. Possess good verbal and written communication skills and be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
2. Have acceptable past work experience in the general areas required to operate and maintain a County park. Past park experience preferred.
3. Have experience in the safe operation and maintenance of mowing equipment and power hand tools.
4. Be able to troubleshoot electrical and plumbing problems and make minor repairs to plumbing and water systems.
Caretaker must be in good physical condition to participate in extensive walking, climbing, pulling or moving of objects weighing fifty (50) pounds or more and all other physical labor required in the performance of assigned duties.
SUPERVISIONCaretaker will be under the general supervision of the Parks Manager, Senior Park Ranger and Parks Maintenance Supervisor.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Caretaker must work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions at any time of the year.
