What are the responsibilities and job description for the WAIVER COORDINATOR position at Muskegon County?
A Waiver Coordinator, under the clinical supervision of a departmental manager, acts as a liaison with the State of Michigan and Lakeshore Regional Entity to ensure data collection, timely application for, and accurate reporting of state waiver requests. These include but may not be limited to: Habilitation Support Waivers (HSW), Children’s Waivers (CWP), Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) Waivers, and the iSPA State Benefit Plan. This position is responsible for concise collaboration with HealthWest case managers, providers, and other member agencies to be in compliance with waiver reporting rules and requirements. This role is responsible for training HealthWest staff to waiver standards, inclusive of goal, objective, and intervention writing. The provision of key feedback is integral to waiver selection and approval. Some data entry into the state’s waiver support application system (WSA) is required.
1. Possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major which meets the criteria for a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP), Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), or a Children’s Mental Health Professional (CMHP); these include: social worker, physical or occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist, audiologist, registered nurse, registered dietician, therapeutic recreation specialist, licensed professional counselor, or an educator with a degree in education from an accredited program.OR
Be qualified as a grandfathered QIDP, QMHP, or CMHP (an individual with a bachelor degree in a human services field who performed the role of QIDP/QMHP/CMHP prior to January 1, 2008).
2. One year experience treating or working with individuals who have an intellectual disability, mental illness, substance use disorder, or serious emotional disturbance.
3. Possess a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a Michigan Driver License within 30 days of employment.
4. Must have reliable transportation that may be used to carry out job duties of this classification.
Preferred but not Required
1. Bilingual candidates highly desired.
2. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
3. Individuals in recovery and individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
An employee in this class generally works in the offices of the Community Mental Health Services, although travel to other County locations and out of the County travel may be required.
EVALUATION CONTENT
Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
