Technology Resources Support Technician
GENERAL JOB FUNCTION:
The Technology Resources Support Technician supports and maintains computer systems for Muskegon Heights Public School Academy System (MHPSAS) buildings. They are the chief liaison between MHPSAS and the network services vendor. They are responsible for the MHPSAS’s technology needs and projects and works directly with MHPSAS leadership to achieve the district’s technology objectives. Their duties include, but are not limited to, installing/maintaining software; installing and maintaining hardware; diagnosing technology problems; performing preventative maintenance; installing and maintaining communications and assistive technology equipment and software; and installing cable and connectors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- No physical or mental restrictions that would, with reasonable accommodation, prevent performance of the essential job functions and responsibilities.
- Evidence of previous successful experience with installing and maintaining end-user workplace technology systems on multiple platforms.
- Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Possession of an Associate's degree, or certification, or equivalent work experience in basic networking and/or technology support.
- A thorough knowledge of Windows based systems; Google ChromeOS systems; Google Workspace; word processing and spreadsheet applications; and a variety of communications hardware and software systems.
- Possess solid oral communication skills to conduct one-on-one training/orientation functions and provide technical support on-site or via the telephone.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of two years successful experience in technology support.
- Intermediate networking knowledge.
- Possession of technology competency authorizations/certifications.
- Experience installing, testing, and using a variety of application software.
- Successful experience in managing and coordinating technology projects.
- Must be self-directed and able to work unsupervised.
- Ability to work well in a team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Order, receive, set up, and deploy end-user equipment.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot communications, assistive technology, and printing hardware and software.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot application software.
- Audio/Visual support for conference and meeting rooms.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Install cables and appropriate connectors.
- Manage the inventory and lifecycle of technology assets.
- Maintain accurate and up to date documentation for technology assets.
- General technology support functions, including training and troubleshooting.
- Participates in building-level technology planning teams and meetings.
- Responds to, updates, and resolves help desk tickets in a detailed manner, using Helpspot software, in a timely manner. Ideally, all tickets should have a response within 4 hours.
- Be supportive, helpful and professional to all district staff and students.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by MHPSAS leadership.
NOTABLE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent lifting and moving of moderately heavy computer equipment and supplies are required.
TYPICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most work is performed in a general office environment at MHPSAS administrative offices and school buildings.
EVALUATION:
Employees in this classification are evaluated according to current Board policy.
TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS:
A significant amount of local travel should be expected.
PAY STRUCTURE:
TBD, Commensurate with experience and education.
