What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Librarian - Adult Services position at Muskingum County Library System?
Under general supervision, provides direct reference services, assistance and support to library customers. Employee assigned to this classification possesses a bachelor’s degree or equivalent proven experience.
What You’ll Do:
Assist library customers in finding and using print and electronic resources.
Answer reference questions and guide patrons in locating materials.
Provide support with library equipment and digital services.
Plan, develop, and lead monthly programs for adults to engage and educate our community.
Help curate and maintain the adult materials collection by selecting, weeding, and recommending books.
Compile subject bibliographies and reading lists to enhance patron experiences.
Participate in outreach efforts and community engagement initiatives.
Support general library operations, including assisting with tours and technology troubleshooting.
What We’re Looking For:.
Knowledge of library science, reference materials, and digital resources.
Strong customer service and public relations skills.
Ability to develop creative and informative programs for adults.
Familiarity with the Dewey Decimal System, library technology, and online catalogs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to organize work efficiently and collaborate with colleagues.
